want to improve your psychic and mediumship abilities? declutter your chakras

Your chakras are intimately involved with your ability to receive information during psychic and mediumship readings.

You are bouncing off the energy fields of others around you all the time. You pick up their energy and they pick up yours. This goes on in both your everyday life and in your readings.

Therefore it is important to release and clear negative, stuck or stagnant energy contained within your chakras to bring them back into balance and good alignment. Otherwise you risk not only experiencing the physical symptoms of chakra imbalance such as feeling tired or listless, headaches, coughs that tend to hang on, a sore lower back and so on, but also hindering your ability to accurately read energy and experience a clear connection with the spirit world.

That’s why your chakras need a good clean, clear and declutter every now and then to keep you psychically sharp and in good chakra shape.

Making chakra decluttering a regular part of your psychic care routine is a highly recommended practice for every new, developing and practicing psychic and medium.

…You may be well acquainted with the chakras. For those who need an introduction or a quick refresher here you go:

The chakras are energy centres or wheels of energy in your body through which energy flows. There are seven chakras which are located at points starting at the base of your spine all the way up the centre of your body to the top of your head. When all is well with the chakras energy flows beautifully through each of them. Blocked or cluttered chakras means that there is not enough energy circulating through that chakra and can lead to physical imbalance, illness and loss of connection with spirit and your higher self. Here is a brief overview of each of the chakras, where they are and what they are associate with:

First chakra: Also known as the root chakra. Located at the base of the spine / tailbone area. Associated with security and survival issues such as money, food and shelter. Color: red.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance: lower back pain, diarrhea, fear, exhaustion, financial issues, addiction, lethargy.

Second chakra: Also known as the sacral chakra. Located in the lower abdomen her the pubic bone. Associated with creative energy, pleasure, overall well-being, abundance. Color: orange.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance: jealousy, lack of sexual desire, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, experiencing creative blocks.

Third chakra: Also know as the solar plexus. Located in the upper abdomen in the stomach area. Associated with issues of self-worth, self-esteem and self-confidence. Color: yellow.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance: stomach ailments, fear, ulcers, bulimia, obesity, indigestion, feelings of victimization.

Fourth chakra: Also known as the heart chakra. Located in the centre of the chest just above the heart. Color: green, pink. Associated with the ability to give and receive love.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance include: heart problems (including heart attach), intolerance, week immune system, asthma, angina and lack of joy in life.

Fifth chakra: Also known as the throat chakra. Located in the base of the throat (Adam’s apple area). Color: blue. Associated with communication, decision making, creativity and truth.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance include: Soar throats, dishonesty, thyroid problems, incessant talking, being too shy, inability to speak one’s truth to another.

Sixth chakra: Also know as the third eye or brow chakra. Located just above the eyebrows in the centre of the forehead. Color: indigo. Associated with intuition, intelligence, wisdom and discernment.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance include: migraine headaches, tension headaches, eye problems, feeling spaced out, forgetfulness, inability to remember one’s dreams, being too much in one’s head, problems staying focussed and an inability to connect with one’s inner wisdom.

Seventh chakra: Also known as the crown chakra. Located at the top of the head. Color: violet, pure white light. Associated with inspiration, oneness with the Universe, divinity, inspiration and present moment awareness.

Symptoms when cluttered or out of balance include: confusion, dominant ego function, mental illness, worry and dizziness.

Chakras work both individually and cooperatively with each other at the same time. When one is out of balance it usually means that the one below or just above it is also out of balance. So it makes good sense to approach delcuttering the chakras holistically, giving them all a good declutter, cleanse and clear. This can be done through visualization, meditation, (which I include below!) and even simply replacing negative thoughts and perspectives that you hold with positive, joyous ones.

Here is a very simple visualization to help your declutter your chakras:

1. Sit comfortably in a quiet spot.

2. Take a few nice deep in and out breaths. Breath in calm and relaxation. Breath out worry and any residue from you day.

3. Once you feel more calm and relaxed visualize a ball of pure white light. See this pure white light just above your head. Watch as this ball of pure white light opens and envelops your whole body, like a refreshing and glorious waterfall from the top of your head down to the bottom of your feet. Feel the warmth and protection of this pure white light.

4. Now taking a full deep breath, breath this pure white light into your crown chakra at the top of your head. Watch as it envelops your crown chakra. As the pure white light encircles your crown chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my crown chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your seventh chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

5. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light swirls its way down to your third eye chakra. Watch as it envelops your third eye chakra. As the pure white light encircles your third eye chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my third eye chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your sixth chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

6. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light makes its way down to your throat chakra. Watch as it envelops your throat chakra. As the pure white light encircles your throat chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my throat chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your fifth chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

7. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light makes its way down to your heart chakra. Watch as it envelops your heart chakra. As the pure white light encircles your heart chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my heart chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your fourth chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

8. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light makes its way down to your solar plexus chakra. Watch as it envelops your solar plexus chakra. As the pure white light encircles your solar plexus chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my solar plexus chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your third chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

9. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light makes its way down to your sacral chakra. Watch as it envelops your brow chakra. As the pure white light encircles your sacral chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my sacral chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your second chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

10. Now take a deep breath and watch as this pure white light makes its way down to your root chakra. Watch as it envelops your root chakra. As the pure white light encircles your root chakra say:

“I breath love, light and healing into my root chakra. All clutter, residue and that which does not serve me are consumed by this pure white light and returned to source. I release all that has blocked me from receiving the highest light and love.”

Visualize the pure white light swirling around and through your first chakra, cleaning and clearing all blockages and returning them to source forever.

11. Now take a deep breath and watch as the pure white light leaves your body through the root chakra a the base of your spine and goes deep into the earth completely grounding you. Watch as the pure white light that envelops your body dissipates and goes out into the universe leaving you cleared and decluttered.

There you go. Your chakras are cleared, cleansed and back in healthy balance.

Now, go enjoy doing your psychic & mediumship readings!

Mediumship is far more than just arriving at a static destination, it’s a dynamic spiritual journey.

Regardless of where you may be on that journey – whether you’re just starting out, you’ve been doing readings or demonstrations for a while, or you’re a professional – there is always room for growth, improvement and seeking opportunities to further deepen and integrate your gifts.

In this article I share with you 6 ways I recommend to improve your mediumship skills.

New to all of this, ‘been there done that’, or old pro, pick a few and give them a try. You’ll be glad you did!

1. Bring yourself into energetic balance

Mediumship is all about perceiving the information conveyed by the spirit world in the form of energy through your own energy.

I am amazed at how many mediums plunge into spirit communication without even a thought as to how they are going to manage their own energy.

This is vital if you are going to be practicing mediumship in any way, shape or form.

Your energy body needs to be as balanced and stable as you can possibly achieve.

When you are feeling off or out of balance emotionally and / or energetically it is much more difficult to discern the messages that spirit is sending and clearly distinguish what you are receiving from spirit from what you may already be carrying within your own emotions and energy.

If you are feeling off balance in any way, put communicating with spirit aside for a while and dedicate some time, instead, to bringing yourself into a place of emotional and energetic balance and clarity.

You can do this by using techniques to clear and call back your energy, ground yourself, do some emotional decluttering and bring your chakras back into balance and alignment.

There is a free Chakra Balancing Tips & Techniques book available for download here to help with all of that. Scroll to the bottom of the page and simply follow the instructions to receive the book.

If you haven’t cleared and balance energetically for a while take some time – about an hour or two – to do it well and thoroughly. Once you have done the initial full clearing re-set, then periodic maintenance – once a week works really well – will be all you really need. If you sense you need more, then do it!

Shake it up. Clear your chakras one week, then do your cord grounding the next. Do some emotional decluttering the following week then some grounding maintenance the week after. Repeat!

Hint, hint… you’ll notice a difference in your mediumship. 🙂

2. Ritualize your mediumship process

If you don’t already incorporate ritual into your mediumship process I highly encourage you to start.

Ritualizing honors you, your mediumship, and the spirit world.

It brings a sense of the sacred to your process.

It raises your vibration.

It prepares you to be the clearest channel that you can be for spirit. It sets the tone for connecting with spirits of the highest and best sources of love and wisdom.

Here is a good article on ritual and why it is important.

As a part of your ritual consider including:

• setting an intention
• saying a prayer
• doing a mediumship preparation meditation
• adding an opening and closing component to your process

Take a look at what you already do and consider how or what you can add to (or subtract from) it and consciously ritualize it.

This new eBook + audio recording combo added to my shop just the other day guides you through the process of both ritualizing and organizing your mediumship process. It’s a good one to have in your toolkit as a developing medium!

3. Give your clairs a regular workout

Your clairs are the ‘muscles’ you use in mediumship, so regular workouts are highly recommended to keep them in shape and working well.

Don’t only exercise the clairs that are your strongest. Make a point of branching out and including and expanding the clairs you don’t normally use. Push yourself to move beyond your comfort zone and allow yourself to strengthen and grow those other clairs.

Expanding the clairs involves stimulating the senses associated with them, both physically and subtly, with, for example, images for clairvoyance, sounds for clairaudience, sensations for clairsentience and thought associations for claircognizance.

If you’re interested in exploring further with clairvoyance – either strengthening your’s or branching out into awakening it if you’re not currently using clairvoyance (or consider yourself to be clairvoyant), then check out this guided meditation and companion workbook in my shop.

4. Connect with your mediumship guide

Yes, there are many spirit guides that are there to help you on your path. But did you know that you have a guide that helps you specifically with your mediumship? Well… you do.

Your mediumship guide might be a totally new, as yet unknown guide for you, or quite possibly one that you currently know and regularly work with.

Take some time to meditate, connect with the energy of your guide team and ask your mediumship guide to step forward.

I’ve designed a guided meditation to help you do just that. It’s here in the shop.

Your mediumship guide helps you to (among other things) hold the link with spirit, raise your vibration, and acts as a gatekeeper to the spirit world. He or she also points you towards the learning experiences that will further your growth on your mediumship path.

Get to know your mediumship guide like an old friend who’s got your back, because she does. 😉

5. Rub elbows with other mediums

If you have not visited a place such as Lily Dale or Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp then what are you waiting for?

Developing mediums of all levels flock to these inspirational gathering places known as Spiritualist Camps located in several locations in North America. They offer many classes and workshops in beginner to advanced levels so you are bound to find something to inspire you and help take you beyond your current level of development.

There is also nothing better than getting down and dirty with other developing mediums and rubbing elbows with mediumship teachers.

Check in your own area for workshops on mediumship and psychic development. You may be surprised at what you will find. You can learn a tremendous amount and feel incredibly inspired, recharged and ready to go hanging out in learning and practicing environments with other mediums!

6. Work with an experienced teacher or mentor

Working with a teacher or mentor 1:1 is the fastest way to achieve results in your mediumship. There is really nothing like working with someone who is focused solely on you, and able to highlight and help you identify your unique strengths and guide you step by step in overcoming your challenges.

I highly suggest that you reach out to find a medium with whom you resonate and would feel comfortable working with. Many mediums, myself included, offer mediumship development mentoring and coaching opportunities.

It is a larger monetary investment, usually a lot more than taking a group class or joining a development circle, however, it is well worth it as mentoring 1:1 is truly the fastest way to improve your skills, get yourself up to speed and set yourself on the right track as a medium.

So go ahead and give one or even all of the above ways a try. Better yet start at #1 and move your way through all 6. You will find yourself making clearer connections with spirit and receiving more direct and clear guidance for yourself, your clients and your platform demonstration audiences.

If you’re an electrician it’s an infinite source or sink for charge, which can absorb an unlimited amount of current without changing its potential. Or… what that third seemingly useless prong on an electrical cord is for.

If you’re a teenager it’s not being allowed to leave your bedroom, except to go to church or the dentist, because, well, you screwed up big time…

If you’re a psychic medium it’s centering your soul in your body. It’s bringing yourself back down to earth. It’s having a really good grip on yourself, your body, your thoughts and emotions.

Grounding simply put is getting your shit together.

There are many ways to ground yourself, including:

• eating a tub of Haagen Daz white chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream (the small tub) or 13 Oreo cookies (the thin ones of course)
• sitting under a tree
• smoking
• walking barefoot on the earth
• dancing
• carrying extra body weight
• using essential oils
• gardening
• eating spaghetti

I’m sure you can figure out the ones on that list above that I would recommend and the ones that I wouldn’t. I’ve included the wouldn’ts because those are very real things that some people do in order to ground themselves – things like smoking or putting on extra weight or binge eating. These things help to bring them back into their bodies and into the present moment. They are less conscious, healthy, well thought out actions but they do the trick.

Obviously there are way better ways. (Truth be told, I do like to ground myself by eating a plate of spaghetti every now and then…)

Grounding is, of course, very important when you do psychic or mediumship work.

When you’ve been working with spirit you tip your scales with an excess of spiritual energy. This can leave you feeling spaced out, ungrounded and not quite fully in your body.

Physical grounding comes in very handy here and involves taking actions that bring you back in touch with your body, re-balance your physical and spiritual energies and bring yourself back down to earth.

Some great ways to ground yourself include:

• standing firmly on the ground and visualizing roots growing out of the bottom of your feet deep into the earth
• feeling yourself in your body by rigorously tapping and/or messaging areas like your arms, legs, buttocks, thighs and calves
• engaging in physical actions such as yoga stretches, wiggling your body all over or dancing
• knitting, cooking, gardening or doing any kind of creative activity that requires manual work and physicality that will bring you down to earth
• bringing awareness to where you feel any discomfort or tension in your body and then working to alleviate that through relaxation and energy healing

Another quick and easy two step way to ground yourself is to 1) stand with your feel planted firmly on the ground while 2) visualizing (or hearing, feeling) roots growing from the bottom of your feet deep into the earth.

This is a wonderful practice to engage in after you have done any work with the energy fields of others or with spirit.

You can also do this any time that you feel spaced out, shaky, weak in your energy, not in the present, out of your body or generally out of balance.

These two steps are so simple that they can be done anywhere at anytime.

I usually need to ground myself before I go into a large public shopping space. If I so much as enter a crowded space without grounding myself beforehand I can easily get caught up in the whirl of energies around me, quickly lose my focus and even become dizzy and confused. So before I go into this kind of space I do the above visualization.

Some folks lose their focus when they get together with certain other people, often at large family gatherings, for example.

Think about where, when and with whom you tend to feel ungrounded and resolve to do these two simple grounding steps before going to these places or being with the people around whom you feel off balance.

Grounding also involves another very important component, which I refer to as:

Soul grounding:

Soul grounding is all about knowing who you are and feeling confident and centered in that knowing.

It is about grounding your timeless, eternal soul into your life.

It’s about getting your spiritual shit together.

You do this by developing positive habits that honor your spirit and bolster your positive energy so that you are able to send that out and receive it back from spirit, those around you and the rest of the world while, at the same time, being all that you came here to be and honoring your unique path in this life.

In my opinion soul grounding is the most important kind of grounding that there is. The more that you focus and commit to this type of grounding, the less you eventually need to practice the physical grounding techniques that I’ve described above. Why? Because you’ll eventually reside regularly in a natural state of groundedness.

Soul grounding focuses on:

• Living and loving in a healthy, balanced manner.
• Letting go of worry, pettiness, envy and other spirit sucking, life wasting, diminishing energies.
• Letting go of negative attachments.
• Replacing negative habits and thoughts with constructive and positive ones.

When we become entangled in negative attachments, worry, envy and less than positive thoughts and habits we riddle ourselves both physically and spiritually with excess negative energy. This causes us to become ungrounded and disconnected from our souls and all that is good for us on our path.

For me soul grounding involves bringing present moment awareness and vigilance to these five guiding principles in my life and practicing them daily:

1. Living in my truth and being honest to both myself, and others.

2. Getting to know my own spirit and allowing my spirit’s voice to express itself in my life

3. Spending time with others who lift my spirit and encourage me to be who I am.

4. Letting go of relationships and connections that drain my energy or do not serve my spirit or path in the highest and best way.

5. Replacing worry, judgment, jealousy and feelings of lack or scarcity with trust, acceptance and gratitude for the abundance in my life.

When I bring my awareness constantly back to doing these five things I build up the positive energy in my life that fortifies and supports me and contributes positively to others around me.

When I focus on bolstering my positive energy I become impermeable to the negative.

When I get to know myself, I am grounded in the best possible way that I can be. There is not a thing that can shake me from the truth of who I am.
